Media fetish.
Now, as most college kids, I don't have much money. Nor do my parents just shower me in gifts and money, despite the fact that I would very much love that. It's this very reason why 1. I haven't upgraded my digital camera that I bought 4 or 5 years ago and 2. I don't have any good lighting equipment. Frankly put, I can't afford it...with college, paying rent + other bills, in addition to random photo expenses and the fact that I only work retail due to my hectic school schdedule(hello 17 hours this semester), it's no wonder I really don't have the latest equipment. However, I am a firm believer in that you don't need this! Sure, it would be awesome to have it but I hate the thought that just because you have better equipment/a better camera/etc than someone else, you'll take better photos - like it's almost magic. For this reason, I've had to somewhat ghetto up my lights, using worklights with daylight balanced bulbs. Any one else want to suggest a cheap way to make a good, even ghetto, lighting setup? Or if you'd just like to donate a couple hundred dollars or so, I would gladly accept that.
All slightly different, due to the way I did the final editing.

Get at me.
There was an 8-bit artist once who said that one of the things he loved about using 8-bit sounds for creating music was that it limited him. Limitations can push artistic expansion and I think these photos help that fact.
ReplyDeleteWhile I would love to have every tool available to me, I can't help but remember the past when they themselves were limited to only certain techniques...yet amazing work was still produced.
